META META CHILDREN'S HOME
Caring for Abandoned Children
Meta Meta Children's home was started by Anjelina Auma Owegi (Anjela). She is a mother to all the children and takes care of all their needs. Prior to 2003 Meta Meta was a women's support group. However, during that time many of the women passed away after contracting AIDS, leaving behind orphaned children. Anjela started a daycare system in 2003 and by 2006 transitioned into a home. Over the years it has become a refuge for orphaned, abandoned and destitute kids. Currently, there are 37 kids ranging from the ages 6 months to 17 years. ABOUT US
This website is a campaign to create awareness and raise funds for Meta Meta Children's home in Kangemi, Nairobi. This campaign has been initiated by Meera Shah and Hetal Shah. We started volunteering at Meta Meta early in 2021 and fell in love with the kids and Anjela! Each kid has a different and heartbreaking story of how they ended up at the home. Noticing how Anjela managed to keep the boat afloat with inconsistent donations, we knew we had to do something to help. Meta Meta is a small home with limited means for abandoned kids with no major or consistent backing. We therefore appeal to all our friends and family, and anyone they know to please help Anjela and all her beautiful children. Meera and Hetal will be responsible for the collection and distribution of funds to the respective schools.
